We’re a private social club open to the whole of the Stonehouse community. We’re not just about the tennis… We’re a community hub offering the opportunity to play tennis, amongst other activities.
Our wonderful club is managed by an elected committee and enthusiastic helpers from the membership on a purely voluntary basis. Our only source of income is from our membership / visitor fees and fund-raising events. We deliberately keep membership fees as low as we can, but in return we do ask that our members help out in some way with the grounds, or maybe with the social events. Every donated home-baked cake or raffle prize helps enormously! The gardens are our greatest asset, and we hold members’ Gardening Days for a couple of hours on the first Saturday in the month. All the family is welcome to come along.
The club’s land is leased from the Lord Edgcumbe estate. Almost one hundred years ago, the then Lord Edgcumbe offered the grounds of his winter villa to the local community at a generously reduced rent.
The club is inclusive, not exclusive. To be eligible for membership, all you need is a connection to Stonehouse.
Everyone is welcome at Stonehouse Lawn Tennis Club!
